What is Serve Our City?

 

Gift of Love is Serve Our City (SOC)’s yearly Christmas gift hamper donation drive, benefiting our Serve Our City community partners:

  • Families – Fei Yue Family Service Centre
  • Migrant Workers
  • Seniors – Lions Befrienders and cardboard box collectors @ Bendemeer
  • Special Needs – Red Cross Home for the Disabled

With your help, we are looking to bring a total of 320 gift hampers worth ~$50 each to them and some cheer to their homes this Christmas season!

You can join us by being a:

SPONSOR | We are looking for people to sponsor the grocery hampers and will be accepting donations in $30, $50 or any amount you want to give.

VOLUNTEER | We are looking for
(a) talents to perform at our Christmas parties with our Seniors, our Migrant Workers and the staff and residents of Red Cross Home for the Disabled all through December. If you are game to sing, dance or do a Christmas skit, please join us at one of the events!
(b) extra muscles and smiles to pack and distribute the hampers and bring cheer to our beneficiaries.

EVENT DETAILS:

SPECIAL NEEDS**
3 December, Saturday || 2pm – 5pm @ 8 Lengkok Bahru, Level 5 MPH
We will be packing and distributing gift hampers to staff and residents, along with a Christmas celebration for the Red Cross Home for the Disabled (RCHD). Additionally, for those who enjoy singing, dancing or acting, please also volunteer your talent as part of the Christmas programme!

SENIORS**
11 December, Sunday || 2pm – 4pm @ ENCS Office, Hall A
We will be packing and distributing gift hampers to our seniors, along with a Christmas tea and celebration for 30 of our seniors. Volunteers will engage seniors at the table, and encourage them to participate in the activities. Additionally, for those who enjoy singing, dancing or acting, please also volunteer your talent as part of the Christmas programme!

MIGRANT WORKERS
11 December, Sunday || 5.30pm – 7.30pm @ ENCS Office, Hall A
We will be packing and distributing gift hampers to our Migrant Workers, along with a Christmas dinner and celebration for 30 of our Migrant Workers.. Volunteers will engage our migrant friends at the table, and encourage them to participate in the activities. Additionally, for those who enjoy singing, dancing or acting, please also volunteer your talent as part of the Christmas programme!

FAMILIES
17 December, Saturday || 9am – 12pm @ Fei Yue Family Service Center (Yew Tee)
We will be distributing gift hampers from the Family Service Centre to family beneficiaries, along with Christmas cheer! Beneficiaries will come by the centre to pick up the specific electronic appliance gift that they had requested for, with volunteers supporting the distribution of items and greeting cards.

Looking for volunteers to:
– Write on Greeting Cards
– Distribute Gift Hampers

NOTE:

You will be informed within 5 working days of your confirmed participation in the event. Registrants who do not fit within the volunteer number limits will also be informed.

**Due to the vulnerability of these beneficiaries, volunteers for this event will need to:
(1) Show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
(2) Take an ART and show negative results prior to entry (Replacement ART kits will be provided on event day).
